Why You Should Try a Deep Tissue Massage

A deep tissue massage focuses on the lowest levels of your muscular fascia, tendons, and tissues if your muscles are in severe need of relief. Your massage therapist provides gradual yet firm pressure to your aching muscles.

Massages are fantastic. What’s not to love about aromatherapy, warm lotion, and whimsical harp music? But what if a simple relaxation massage isn’t enough? Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper.

Everything you need to know about deep tissue massages is right here.

Deep tissue massage benefits

While practically everybody may benefit from deep tissue massage, athletes and people with musculoskeletal difficulties benefit the most.

The following bodily parts are frequently affected:

  • butt
  • neck
  • calves
  • shoulders
  • lower back

Deep tissue massage has several emotional and physical benefits, including the relief of pain and mental stress. But did you know that it may also help you heal?

Deep tissue massage can assist your body in recovering from an injury by improving blood flow and decreasing inflammation. It may also dissolve scar tissue, which is incredible.

Deep tissue vs. Swedish massage

Deep tissue massage is distinct from other common massage techniques such as Swedish massage and reflexology. Therapists may use their elbows and forearms in addition to their hands to apply pressure. They may also be able to maintain the intensity for a longer amount of time than a relaxing massage.

Deep tissue massage is mostly used to treat sports injuries and chronic pain. If you merely want to rest and unwind, you might want to try a different technique.

5 reasons to try Deep Tissue Massage

  • Reduces back pain: Back pains can be excruciating to deal with. Let alone get to work, you can sit, stand, or even stroll. Backaches are usually treated with a revitalizing massage, which appears to be quite helpful.
  • Reduces long-term stress. High levels of stress are unavoidable in today’s workplace. Stress, on the other hand, may wreak havoc on your health if left unchecked. Chronic stress and muscle tension can lead to inflammation in the body, which can lead to a variety of health issues such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
  • Chronic discomfort is relieved. In a 2014 study, researchers assessed the effectiveness of deep massage to the posterior calf muscles in conjunction with neural mobilization exercises in the treatment of heel pain in study participants. The deep massage was shown to be the best treatment for heel pain at the end of the trial.
  • Reduces high blood pressure. There is no shortage of items in our life that might raise our blood pressure to dangerously high levels. A deep tissue massage is what you need to lower your stress hormones, sadness, and, as a result, your diastolic pressure.
  • as well as the systolic blood pressure Improves athletic performance while also speeding up recovery Sports massage is a type of deep tissue massage that is conducted before an event to reduce the risk of injury and speed recovery. It operates in a similar way to warm-up exercises.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE TREATMENT

Many of the motions and methods used in deep tissue massage are similar to those used in superficial massage. The difference is that the pressure will be stronger and more concentrated on the regions of tension and discomfort.

The strokes are the same, but the action is slower and more intense. Most people experience some discomfort and suffering at various spots throughout the massage. It’s critical to alert the therapist if they strike a vulnerable region or if any discomfort you feel is beyond your tolerance. The therapy might get intense at times due to the concentrated nature of the session.

After a deep tissue massage, there may be some stiffness or discomfort, but this should go away within a day or two. After the deep tissue massage, the massage therapist may recommend administering ice to the affected region.
